Dai Xuejiang
Dai Xuejiang (born February 1930 in Jingjiang, Jiangsu) is a retired general of the People's Liberation Army of China. He served as political commissar of the Commission for Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense from November 1992 to July 1995, and later handed the post to Li Jinai. He was a delegate to the 8th National People’s Congress and a member of the Standing Committee of the 8th and 9th Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.
In 1943, Dai joined the Chinese Communist Youth League to oppose the Japanese occupation. He enlisted in the PLA in September 1946 and joined the CCP in May 1947. During the Chinese Civil War, he served as a platoon political commissar in the East China Field Army (later the Third Field Army) and took part in campaigns such as Menglianggu, Huaihai, the Yangtze River Crossing, and Shanghai.
In the Korean War (1952), he fought as a company and later battalion political commissar in the 67th Division, 23rd Army under Zhong Guochu. After the war, he held various positions in the 23rd Army and the Shenyang Military Region. From 1978 to 1980, he was the frontline commander of the 23rd Army at Heihe to deter possible Soviet aggression after the Sino-Vietnamese War.
He moved to the Shenyang Military Region in 1985, became Director of the Political Department in August 1988, and Deputy Political Commissar in April 1990. In 1992, he was appointed Political Commissar of the Commission for Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, serving until his early retirement in 1995.
Dai rose through the ranks: major general in 1988, lieutenant general in 1990, and general in 1994. He is married to Xie Dejing, who is the granddaughter of Xie Wuliang and the niece of Chen Yi.
