Craig Dingman
Craig Allen Dingman (born March 12, 1974) is a former relief pitcher in Major League Baseball. A right-handed pitcher from Wichita, Kansas, he attended Hutchinson Community College. Dingman was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 36th round of the 1993 MLB draft and made his big‑league debut on June 30, 2000, with the Yankees. He was traded to the Colorado Rockies on March 30, 2001, for Jorge DePaula. From 2002 to 2003, he spent time in the Reds, Yankees, and Cubs organizations and also played in Mexico. He signed with the Detroit Tigers as a minor league free agent before the 2004 season and earned a bullpen spot that year. In 2005, he went 2–3 with a 3.66 ERA. His final major league appearance was September 28, 2005, for the Tigers.
In February 2006, while playing catch with a teammate, his right throwing arm lost circulation. He underwent an arterial bypass surgery—the first of its kind in MLB history—to restore blood flow. He attempted a return with Detroit in 2007 but developed a blood clot and fatigue and was released. Dingman finished his MLB career with a 4–5 record, a 6.10 ERA, and 50 strikeouts.
Off the field, he lived in Wichita with his wife, Teresa, and their five children. Before baseball, he worked in construction and roofing. In 2014, he co-founded Dingers Roofing & Construction in Wichita.
