Christopher James Chaplin (born 8 July 1962) is a Swiss and English composer and actor. He is the youngest son of Charlie Chaplin and Oona O'Neill, and the grandson of Eugene O’Neill. He was born in Lausanne, Switzerland, at Clinique de Mont Choisi. He studied piano in Vevey and later moved to London to pursue acting. His first film role was Ivan in Where Is Parsifal? (1983), which was shown at Cannes in 1984. He also appeared in the TV miniseries Till We Meet Again. He played Trifco in Death of a Schoolboy, Franz Kafka in Labyrinth (1991), and Rodrigo de Escobedo in Christopher Columbus: The Discovery. In La Piste du télégraphe (1994) he played John, and he portrayed French poet Charles Cros in Total Eclipse (1995). Since 2005 he has focused on composing music, collaborating with artists such as Hans-Joachim Roedelius. He signed with Fabrique Records in 2010 and released his solo debut Je suis le Ténébreux in 2016.
