Cheilosia capillata
Cheilosia capillata, the scar-horned blacklet, is an uncommon hoverfly found in the northeastern United States. Like other hoverflies, adults can hover almost motionless in the air and are often seen on flowers. They feed on nectar for energy and pollen for protein. The larvae are plant feeders.
