Charissa Cree Chamorro, born April 26, 1977, in Baytown, Texas, is an American clinical psychologist with Chilean heritage. She is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and specializes in anxiety, depression, and sleep problems. She is also an actress and television personality.

Chamorro trained at the Columbia University Clinic for Anxiety and Related Disorders, the Children’s Day Unit at the New York State Psychiatric Institute, Mount Sinai’s OCD Center, and the Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center. She earned a PhD in Clinical Psychology from Long Island University, a Master’s in Social Work from New York University, a Master’s in Psychology from LIU, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Boston University.

She frequently shares her expertise in the media, with appearances and features in Time, Forbes, Parents, People, Real Simple, The Week, Insider, Men’s Health, Vox, The Huffington Post, and Newsweek. She has presented research nationwide and received fellowships in research and statistics. Her work includes pediatric OCD and anxiety disorders, the long-term effects of child abuse and exposure to community violence, and factors that contribute to anxiety and mood disorders.

Chamorro was featured on NBC’s Doc to Doc with Dr. John Torres. She has worked with advocacy and social service programs in New York City. Her experience as a movement instructor for pediatric cancer patients inspired her to focus on child and adolescent psychology. She mentors Latino students through PLANS (Psicológos Latinos Avanzando Nuestros Servicios), helping them become licensed psychologists.

In acting, Chamorro had leading roles on Guiding Light as Tory Granger (2001–2002) and One Life to Live as Sophia Pellegrino (1999–2001), winning the 2001 OLTL Soap Central Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress and Outstanding Newcomer. She also starred in the film Hysterical Psycho, had guest roles on Law & Order and Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and has worked in theater.
