Castlerea Prison is a medium-security prison for men aged 17 and older, located in Harristown, Castlerea, County Roscommon, Ireland. It is run by the Irish Prison Service and the governor is Mr. David Conroy. The prison has a capacity of about 340 beds, and in 2022 the average daily inmate population was about 320.

Castlerea opened as a prison in 1996, with main cell blocks completed in 1998.

Before becoming a prison, the site was part of Ireland’s district mental hospital system. It began in 1939 and was used at times as a tuberculosis sanatorium, later becoming St. Patrick’s Hospital in the 1960s and operating as a hospital until 1994.
