Castilla y León Televisión (CyLTV) is a private company that holds the only digital terrestrial TV license in Castile and León. It is owned by Promecal and Edigrup Media. After a 2008 tender, its operation covers ten production centres across the region (nine provincial capitals and El Bierzo), and it runs two channels: one region-wide (La 7) and one province-based (La 8), which began in March 2009. Although private, CyLTV receives subsidies from the regional government, including a €47.9 million allocation in 2025 for the next two years. In 2011 it laid off staff to meet a €10.7 million VAT demand on subsidies. In October 2024 it launched CyLTVplay, an online platform with more than 500 series from 15 years of history, released by Valladolid mayor Jesús Julio Carnero.
