Camus Bour
Camus Bour, also known as Camus the Bastard, was a mercenary captain in the Hundred Years War. He came from Navarre or Gascony. After the Treaty of Brétigny left many soldiers unemployed, he joined the Tard-Venus, raiders who plundered southern France. His story appears in the Chronicles of Froissart. After the Battle of Brignais, he went to Italy with Hawkwood, Creswey and Briquet to fight Galeas II Visconti and Bernabo Visconti of Milan. During the wars he threw prisoners into a pit full of fire if they could not redeem their freedom. He was captured in December 1367 at the castle of Beauvoir by the people of the Duke of Bourbon.
