Burkholderia singularis is a bacteria in the Burkholderia genus. It was identified in 2017 by Vandamme and colleagues. Scientists distinguish it from other Burkholderia species using genetic tests called multilocus sequence analysis and by MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry. Its biochemical traits are also distinctive: it does not reduce nitrate, forms mucoid colonies on Columbia sheep blood agar, and shows a slowly positive result for the oxidase test.
