Brenda's Got a Baby is a song by 2Pac from his 1991 debut album 2Pacalypse Now. The song tells the story of a 12-year-old girl named Brenda who becomes pregnant and cannot support her baby, highlighting the impact of teen pregnancy on young mothers and their families. Shakur wrote it after reading a newspaper article about a girl who became pregnant by her cousin and threw the baby into a trash can. The track features background vocals from Dave Hollister and Roniece Levias. It was released as a promotional CD single before the album, and in February 1992 was re-released as a double A-side with "If My Homie Calls." The black-and-white music video, directed by the Hughes brothers, stars Ethel "Edy" Proctor as Brenda and visualizes the story Shakur narrates. The video was filmed January 7, 1992 and released January 20, 1992.
