Braçanj
Braçanj is a small village in Korçë County, southern Albania. It is part of Devoll municipality (since 2015; it used to be in Miras). The village’s main job is farming, mostly subsistence farming, with some crops sold to traders from Tirana. People grow wheat, corn and other cereals for themselves, and also tomatoes, okra, garlic, beans, apples, pears and grapes for local use. The main cash crops are onions, beans and potatoes.
After the end of Communism in 1991, land was distributed to residents; each person received 1,000 square meters.
Braçanj has about 600 residents (around 120 families). Since 1991, roughly 30 families have moved to bigger Albanian cities or abroad.
Nearby villages are Dobranj, Ponçarë and Kurilë. The village is about 1.5 km from the Greek border and the Krystallopigi border crossing, 2 km from the Albanian border post at Kapshticë, and 7 km from the town of Bilisht.
