Borex is a small municipality in the district of Nyon, in the canton of Vaud, Switzerland. It sits at the foot of the Jura Mountains near the French border, and it covers about 2 square kilometers at an elevation of 470 meters.

History and population: Borex was first mentioned in 1213. The population has grown from about 853 people in 2003 to around 1,150 people in 2020.

Land and people: About 76% of Borex’s land is used for farming, with a small amount of forest and roughly 21% settled with homes and roads. The community is primarily French-speaking, with some German and English speakers. Around 26% of residents were foreign nationals in the late 2000s.

Economy: Borex has a low unemployment rate, and many residents work outside the municipality. Local jobs are mainly in services and education, with some work in farming and construction.

Politics and community: Borex is part of the Nyon district. In elections, several parties are represented, with the SVP being the most popular in 2007.

Amenities: The area includes local schools for primary and lower secondary levels, and some students attend schools in neighboring towns. Borex is bordered by Arnex-sur-Nyon, Chéserex, Crassier, Eysins, Grens, and Signy-Avenex.
