Boo-Woo
Boo-Woo is a boogie-woogie instrumental by Harry James and The Boogie Woogie Trio. It was released as the A-side of a 78 rpm single in 1939, with the B-side being Woo-Woo. The song was recorded on February 1, 1939, in New York City, shortly after James left Benny Goodman and before he started his own band. Columbia Records producer John Hammond suggested the session, pairing James with Pete Johnson for Boo-Woo and Albert Ammons for Woo-Woo. Johnny Williams played bass and Eddie Dougherty played drums. The day also produced two other tracks: Home, James and Jessie. Boo-Woo has been released in the U.S. by Columbia Records and its subsidiaries over the years, and later appeared on the album Boogie Woogie (1941).
