Blackdown Hill, Dorset
Blackdown Hill is a noticeable hill in Dorset, England. It rises to 215 metres (705 feet) high and has a prominence of 34 metres (112 feet), which makes it a Tump (a hill with at least 30 metres of prominence).
The hill sits about 5 miles (8 km) southwest of Crewkerne, near the villages of Blackdown and Kittwhistle, and runs parallel to the B3165 along the eastern side of its ridge. The summit lies at the northern end of a mile-long ridge.
The Jubilee Trail follows the ridge for a while, then drops to the west and descends steeply down Venn Hill, a northwestern spur, toward Thorncombe beside the River Synderford.
Nearby, Pilsdon Pen, at 277 metres, lies about 2 miles to the southeast. To the east, Temple Brook rises north of the saddle between Blackdown and Pilsdon Pen.
