Betty Bossi is a Swiss cookbook publisher. The Betty Bossi brand publishes cookbooks and newsletters and runs cooking contests. Its recipe booklets are found in many Swiss kitchens. The brand is run by Betty Bossi AG/SA in Zurich and is owned by Coop Group. The name comes from a fictional character created in the mid-1950s, inspired by Betty Crocker. Some say Betty Bossi invented tartines, a simple bread-and-butter snack. Around 2003, Swiss International Air Lines offered Betty Bossi menu items on economy flights of about 70 minutes or longer. In 2012 Coop bought the company outright after having held 50% since 2001. After the investment, Coop launched Betty Bossi convenience foods in its stores, and by 2018 there were about 1,400 product lines. A film called Hello Betty, about the origin of the character and its inventor Emmi Creola, is due to be released in late 2025.
