Bellator 255: Pitbull vs. Sanchez 2 took place on April 2, 2021, at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. It was Bellator MMA’s first event of the year after a four-month break and the first Bellator show on Showtime, the network’s first MMA broadcast since 2013. The event streamed for free in the U.S. on Pluto TV and YouTube, with additional options on Hulu, FuboTV, and other providers.
The headliner was the Featherweight World Grand Prix semifinal between champion Patricio Freire and Emmanuel Sanchez, a rematch of their previous meeting won by Freire.
Several lineup changes occurred: Jared Scoggins was replaced by Cee Jay Hamilton to face Magomed Magomedov after Scoggins withdrew. Matt Mitrione withdrew and was replaced by Jack May to fight Tyrell Fortune. The planned Burnell vs. Rogers bout was canceled due to visa issues and later took place at Bellator 257. At weigh-ins, Aguiar missed weight by 1.7 pounds and Faraldo by 0.1 pounds, resulting in fines. Berkhamov missed weight by 2.8 pounds, causing his bout with Herman Terrado to be pulled from the card.
