Banksia 'Limelight'
Banksia 'Limelight' is a registered cultivar of Banksia ericifolia, also known as the Heath-leaved Banksia. It is sometimes listed as Banksia ericifolia 'Limelight'. The plant has bright lime-green foliage and otherwise resembles B. ericifolia. It grows about half as fast as the standard species and can only be propagated vegetatively (by cuttings), not from seed.
Originating as a sport from a mature plant found beside a highway at Kariong, New South Wales, in 1986, cuttings were propagated and the cultivar was registered by Phil Packham in December 1987. Propagating rights are held by Princeton Nursery, Mount White, New South Wales. Due to limited consumer interest, the two original plants have not been propagated for several years.
