Baidurya Rahasya (Mystery of the Electric Gem) is a Bengali thriller film directed by Tapan Sinha. It was released on 8 May 1985 under Saraswati Chitram, with Tapan Sinha also handling the story and music. The film stars Basanta Choudhury, Moon Moon Sen, Tapas Paul, and Manoj Mitra. Plot: An invaluable emerald is stolen from a Lord Krishna temple on an island and insured for Rs. 8 lakhs. The insurance company hires Hindusthan Detective Agency to investigate. Head detective Madan Bose and his assistant travel to the temple to meet Mohanta Maharaj. Two young women visit the temple as devotees and secretly begin their own investigation. Other characters include a young researcher, priest Nityananda, and trustee Singh Ji. When the old garden keeper Charandas is killed by a masked man, the police start a parallel inquiry. It is revealed that the theft was followed by another murder at the temple days earlier. In the end, the true culprit is found and the jewel is recovered.
