Babanpur is a census town in Barrackpore II Community Development Block, in the Barrackpore subdivision of North 24 Parganas district, West Bengal, India. It forms a cluster with Jafarpur, Mohanpur and Telenipara around Barrackpore and covers about 1.43 square kilometres.

In 2011, Babanpur had a population of 8,942 (4,555 males and 4,387 females), with 877 children below six years old. There were 6,953 literate people, giving a literacy rate of 86.21% for those older than six. The town was part of the Kolkata Urban Agglomeration in 2011.

Facilities include 2 charitable hospitals/nursing homes and 8 medicine shops, and 3 primary schools. The nearest middle, secondary and senior secondary schools are about half a kilometre away in Jafarpur.

Babanpur lies along the Kalyani Expressway, and Palta railway station on the Sealdah–Ranaghat line is nearby. Khardaha police station, under the Barrackpore Police Commissionerate, has jurisdiction over Khardaha Municipal area and Barrackpore II CD Block.
