Béma is a rural commune and small town in Diéma Cercle, Kayes Region, western Mali. It covers 1,350 square kilometers and includes 24 villages and hamlets. In the 2009 census, 25,749 people lived there (12,326 men and 13,103 women), giving a density of about 19 people per square kilometer. The coordinates are 15°02′38″N, 9°21′14″W. Bamako, the capital, is about 400 km to the southeast of Béma. The time zone is GMT (UTC+0).
