Attitudinal fix

Content sourced from Wikipedia, licensed under CC BY-SA 3.0.

An attitudinal fix means solving a problem by changing people’s attitudes. It uses persuasion, mediation, diplomacy, and awareness campaigns. This approach works only for problems that involve feelings, values, or judgments. Purely physical or technical problems require a technological fix, not attitude change. Many problems mix attitudes with technical factors, so they can be addressed with attitudinal fixes, technological fixes, or a combination of both. People often prefer different options: for example, ending a war could rely on a negotiated settlement and attitude change, or on a military, tech-based solution.
