Arthur Altman (1910–January 18, 1994) was an American songwriter and violinist from Brooklyn. He started his career playing violin with the CBS Radio Orchestra. Altman wrote about 400 songs. His most famous song is "All or Nothing at All," written with lyricist Jack Lawrence. He also wrote the lyrics for "All Alone Am I," "I Will Follow Him," and "Truly, Truly True." His first nationally known song was "Play Fiddle Play," written in the early 1930s for Emory Deutsch. "All or Nothing at All" has appeared on more than 180 albums by over 150 artists, including Count Basie, John Coltrane, Bing Crosby, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, and Sarah Vaughan. He died of a heart ailment in Lake Worth, Florida.
