Armand Penverne
Armand Pierre Adolphe Penverne (26 November 1926 – 27 February 2012) was a French professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Born in Pont-Scorff, Morbihan, France, he stood 1.72 m tall and died in Marseille at age 85.
Penverne spent most of his career with Reims (1947–1959), making 333 league appearances and scoring 33 goals. He helped Reims win four French championships and reach one European Cup final. He also played for Red Star Saint-Ouen (1959–1960) with 36 appearances and 3 goals, and Limoges (1960–1962) with 61 appearances and 4 goals, for a total of 430 league appearances and 40 goals.
Internationally, he earned 39 caps for France between 1952 and 1959, scoring 2 goals.
After retiring as a player, Penverne briefly coached Marseille in 1962 (July–December) and later served as technical director of ES La Ciotat in the 1963–64 season.
