Aria Code is a podcast from WQXR in collaboration with the Metropolitan Opera, hosted by Rhiannon Giddens. The idea came from Merrin Lazyan in 2017, and the show launched in 2018. In each episode, Giddens introduces an aria, talks with guests, and then plays the full aria from the Met Opera archive. Some episodes discuss misogyny in opera. Season 2 links arias to modern life. The series has four seasons. The first season has 10 episodes, about 30 minutes each, released weekly from December 4, 2018 to February 6, 2019. Season 2 began November 13, 2019 and aired on Wednesdays until January 29, 2020. Season 3 started March 10, 2021 and ran biweekly through November 2021. Season 4 began September 28, 2023 and had 8 episodes through January 2024.
