Anjala (film)
Anjala is a 2016 Tamil-language comedy-drama film directed by Thangam Saravanan and produced by Dhilip Subbarayan. The movie stars Vimal, Nandita Swetha, Riythvika, and Pasupathy, with music composed by Gopi Sundar.
Production began in December 2013, with Vimal, Nanditha, and Pasupathi in the cast. Cinematography was by Ravikannan and editing by Praveen K. L. The action scenes were handled by Subbarayan’s team. Anjala released in India on 12 February 2016. It was produced by Farmer's Master Plan Production and 1st Copy Pictures and distributed by Auraa Cinemas.
Soundtrack: The film’s soundtrack, composed by Gopi Sundar, was released on 19 November 2015. It features five songs with lyrics by Na Muthukumar, Yugabharati, Gangai Amaran, Yegathasi, and Lalithanand. Sony Music India released the soundtrack.
Reception: The film received mixed reviews. Times of India gave it 3/5, appreciating its emotional pull but noting uneven filmmaking. The Hindu said the foundation was good but the film lacked ambition. Behindwoods felt it echoed a familiar small-town setting but didn’t fully engage. Hindustan Times pointed out a strong theme but weaker scripting. Moviecrow called it an honest attempt with good intent, while Silverscreen criticized certain elements but found the plot fascinating.
