Ancient Order of Hibernians Hall
Ancient Order of Hibernians Hall, also called Hibernian Hall, was a historic building in Anaconda, Montana. It stood at 321-323 East Commercial Avenue in the Anaconda Commercial Historic District. Built from 1896 to 1899 for about $30,000, the two‑story building measured 50 by 80 feet and blended Queen Anne and Romanesque styles. The ground floor housed five storefronts, and the second-floor lodge room could be reached from Cedar Street. The hall opened with a grand ball on February 9, 1899, and was praised as having the finest and largest dance hall in the state and one of the city’s most handsome buildings. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. The building was demolished in 1984 to make a parking lot for a nearby Family Dollar store. The Ancient Order of Hibernians later built a new hall at 229 East Commercial Avenue, though it still uses the old mailing address.
