Alte Feste Commando

Alte Feste Commando was a light infantry unit of the South West Africa Territorial Force (SWATF). It was part of the Area Force Units and the Territorial Reserve, and was based at Alte Feste in Windhoek (South West Africa, now Namibia). The unit consisted of about one battalion and was one of 26 Area Force Units, mainly recruited from the farming community. It, along with all SWATF units, was disbanded when Namibia gained independence from South Africa; the disbandment was announced around December 1988 and took effect in 1989.
