Alex Menglet, born Alexei Menglet in Moscow, USSR, is an actor who built a long career in Australia. He came from a famous theatre family—his grandfather Georgy Menglet was a celebrated actor, and his parents were respected performers. He studied acting and stage direction at Moscow State Institute of Drama, finishing in 1977.

Menglet moved to Melbourne in 1981 with his wife Elsbeth and began a significant Australian career. He is best known for playing Ray "Gay Ray" Proctor in Prisoner (1984) and Zoran Baranoff in Kick (2007). He also appeared in Wentworth as Ivan Ferguson’s father (2014–15) and has appeared in numerous TV series, films, and stage productions.

His film work includes The Clinic, Children of the Revolution, He Died with a Falafel in his Hand, and Ascendant (2021). In theatre, he performed with Anthill Theatre and the Melbourne Theatre Company, won a Green Room Award for Twelve Angry Men in 2005, and has directed and translated several productions. Menglet and his wife, Elsbeth, have two daughters, Renisia and Katerina; he also has a brother named Dmitri.
