Alfredo José Pedrique García, known as Al Pedrique, is a Venezuelan former MLB shortstop, coach, and manager. Born August 11, 1960 in Aragua, Venezuela, he batted and threw right-handed. He made his major league debut with the New York Mets in 1987 and also played for the Pittsburgh Pirates (1987–1988) and Detroit Tigers (1989), finishing his MLB career with a .247 batting average, 1 home run, and 36 RBIs in 174 games.

Pedrique later built a long coaching and managing career. He managed in the Diamondbacks and Astros organizations and returned to the majors as Diamondbacks third-base coach and interim manager in 2004. His tenure included a controversial decision to have the D-backs intentionally walk Barry Bonds in a series to prevent Bonds from reaching his 700th home run.

He served as the Houston Astros bench coach from 2009 to 2011. In the Yankees system, he led several minor-league teams, including the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, where he won the Governors’ Cup and the Triple-A National Championship in 2017. Pedrique then joined the Oakland Athletics as a first-base coach in 2017, later moving to third base, and stayed with Oakland through 2020.

In 2021 he managed the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, the Marlins’ Triple-A affiliate, and in 2022 he was the Miami Marlins’ third-base and infield coach. For 2023 he was named manager of the Reading Fightin Phils, the Phillies’ Double-A affiliate. Pedrique also helped identify Jose Altuve in Venezuela when he was with the Astros, supporting his progression to the majors.
