Ahmad Muhammad Saeed al-Atrushi
Ahmad Muhammad Saeed al-Atrushi (born 1947 in Atrush, Dohuk Governorate) is a Kurdish Iraqi politician. From 1989 to 2003 he led the pro-Iraq, left-wing wing of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), which was anti-Barzani. He followed Hashim Aqrawi, who left that KDP faction to join Saddam Hussein’s Baath-led National Progressive Front. In 2000 Saddam Hussein appointed al-Atrushi to represent the Dohuk Governorate in the fifth Iraqi National Assembly, a position he held until 2003.
