Abdelrahman El-Trabely
Abdelrahman El-Trabely, full name Abdelrahman Yahia Abdulsalam Muhammad El-Trabily, was an Egyptian Greco-Roman wrestler who competed in the super heavyweight category. Born on September 7, 1989, in Port Said, he represented Egypt at the 2012 Olympic Games in London in the men’s 120 kg event. He had a bye in the opening round but lost to Cuban defending champion Mijaín López in his first match. Because López reached the final, El-Trabely had a chance to compete for bronze through the repechage, but he was eliminated by Guram Pherselidze in the first repechage bout. He died in August 2013 after being shot by Egyptian security forces during protests supporting former President Mohamed Morsi.
