24.hu is a Hungarian online newspaper owned by Central Médiacsoport Zrt. It launched in March 2010 as Hír24, built on Figyelő’s online presence (FigyelőNet) and later merged three Sanoma Budapest online magazines (FN.hu, Story Online, Sport24). In September 2011, Péter Kövesdi became editor-in-chief. After Kövesdi left in 2013, Norbert Kustánczi took over. In April 2014 Sanoma sold the publisher to the Centrál Group, forming Central Médiacsoport Zrt. The site was renamed 24.hu on September 4, 2015. Kustánczi was dismissed in July 2017 and Péter Szigeti became editor-in-chief in October 2017; in July 2019 Péter Pető was named editor-in-chief, with Szigeti becoming digital managing editor. In October 2024 the site launched 24 Extra, a subscription service with exclusive articles, newsletters and podcasts. By 2025 24.hu was the third-most visited news site in Hungary, with around 24% of weekly reach. A record one-day audience of 157,000 unique visitors was reached on October 14, 2019, the day after local elections.
