2023 Cherokee Nation deputy chief election
The 2023 Cherokee Nation deputy chief election was held on June 3, 2023, alongside the Cherokee Nation’s tribal council and principal chief elections. Incumbent Deputy Chief Bryan Warner ran for a second term with Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr. as his running mate. Warner won with 10,500 votes (61.43%). His challengers were David Walkingstick with 5,017 votes (29.35%) and Meredith Frailey with 1,179 votes (6.90%). The Cherokee Nation Election Commission rejected the candidacy of David Comingdeer for deputy chief due to unpaid attorney fees from a 2021 election case.
