The 2020–21 Brown Bears men's ice hockey season would have marked Brown University's 104th year of competition and its 60th in ECAC Hockey. The season was disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, with schedules delayed and plans to start in November. After a coronavirus outbreak at Yale in October, the Ivy League canceled all winter sports for the 2020–21 season, with no spring sports until late February. The decision reflected the Ivy League’s stance on athletics not relying on revenue. The NCAA later announced that winter athletes would retain their eligibility for at least the following year, and it also loosened transfer rules to allow players to play immediately at a new school. As a result, some Brown players could move elsewhere for the 2021 season. Ultimately, the season was cancelled.
