2015–16 Football League One
The 2015–16 Football League One, sponsored as Sky Bet League One, was the 12th season under this title and ran from 8 August 2015 to 8 May 2016. Wigan Athletic won the league, claiming their second divisional title. They were promoted along with Burton Albion and Barnsley. Doncaster Rovers, Blackpool, Colchester United, and Crewe Alexandra were relegated to League Two.
Across the season there were 552 matches and 1,457 goals, averaging about 2.64 goals per game. The top scorer was Will Grigg with 25 goals. The biggest home wins were Chesterfield 7–1 Shrewsbury Town, Coventry City 6–0 Bury, and Scunthorpe United 6–0 Swindon Town. The biggest away win was Coventry City beating Crewe Alexandra 5–0.
Barnsley recorded the longest winning run with seven straight victories, while Wigan Athletic had the longest unbeaten run at 20 matches. Colchester United endured the longest winless run (19 games) and the longest losing run (nine games). The highest attendance was 24,777 for Sheffield United 3–1 Bradford City, while the lowest was 1,767 for Rochdale 1–0 Fleetwood Town.
