Repetition were an English post-punk/new wave band from London. They formed in August 1979 with Pete Petrol (guitar), Tim Transe (drums), Andy Hooper (keyboards), Nicholas (bass) and Sarah Osbourne (vocals). Steve Musham joined in 1981, initially on bass and later taking over vocals on the next single.

The group were signed to the Belgian label Les Disques du Crépuscule after interest from Annik Honoré in 1979. Their first single, A Still Reflex (B-side Fade Out), was released in January 1981. It was recorded at Spaceward Studios and produced by Rob Gretton, who managed Joy Division. Because of the label’s Brussels connections, Repetition toured Belgium and the Netherlands in 1980, playing Plan K in Brussels and Effenaar in Eindhoven, and they appeared on the Generation 80 TV show.

Mick Scholefield managed the band, and he later started Heist Or Hit Records. Musham joined during this period, first on bass, then replacing Osbourne as the vocalist for the next single, A Full Rotation, recorded at Berry Street Studios in London.

The band cut a John Peel session at Maida Vale on 8 August 1981, featuring Musham (vocals/guitar), Jim Solar (ex-Spizzenergi) on bass/guitar, Tim Transe on drums, and Hooper on keyboards.

On 13 July, Repetition performed at Crepuscule Night at Heaven in London with Marine, Eric Random, Richard Jobson & The Swamp Children. The show was covered in NME, and a cassette titled Rendez-Vous Au Paradis was announced but never released.

A later version of the band, including Hooper, Petrol, Musham, Hoser, Sparkes and Laurenson, released one final single, A Will To Win on Red Flame Records.

Keyboard player Andy Hooper died on 31 August 2012.
