2008 Campeonato Ecuatoriano de Fútbol Serie A (Copa Pílsener Serie A)

The 2008 season was the 50th edition of Ecuador’s top football league and was sponsored as the Copa Pílsener Serie A. It ran from February 8 to December 7, featured 12 teams, and used a three-stage format.

Champions and relegation
- Champions: Deportivo Quito won their 3rd league title, and the first in 40 years.
- Relegated: Deportivo Azogues and Universidad Católica were sent to the Serie B for 2009.

Continental qualification
- Copa Libertadores: Deportivo Quito earned a spot in the 2009 Copa Libertadores Second Stage. Deportivo Cuenca and El Nacional earned spots in the First Stage.
- Copa Sudamericana: Deportivo Quito qualified for the 2009 edition.

Competition format
- First Stage: 12 teams played a double round-robin. Top four advanced to the Liguilla Final. The stage winner earned a spot in the Copa Sudamericana, and the top three teams received bonus points (3, 2, and 1) for the Liguilla Final.
- Second Stage: The 12 teams were split into two groups of six, playing within their groups in a double round-robin. The group winners joined the Liguilla Final. If a team qualified more than once, extra slots went to the best teams in the aggregate table that hadn’t yet qualified. The top team from each group received one bonus point for the Liguilla Final.
- Liguilla Final: The six teams played a double round-robin to determine the champion.
- Relegation: The two teams with the fewest points in the aggregate table after the Second Stage were relegated.

- The 2008 season expanded the Serie A to 12 teams (from 10).
- Promotions for 2008: Universidad Católica, ESPOLI, and Técnico Universitario joined from Serie B; Imbabura was relegated from 2007.
