2005 West Edmonton Mall Grand Prix of Edmonton
The 2005 West Edmonton Mall Grand Prix of Edmonton was the seventh race of the Champ Car season. It took place on July 17, 2005, at Finning International Speedway, a temporary track set up at Edmonton City Centre Airport in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The race covered 88 laps on a 1.973-mile (3.175 km) course, totaling about 173.6 miles (279.4 km).
A. J. Allmendinger of RuSPORT won the pole position (his first career pole) with a time of 58.628 seconds and also set the fastest lap of the race, 59.900 seconds on lap 51. The race winner was Sébastien Bourdais of Newman/Haas Racing, with Oriol Servià (Newman/Haas Racing) finishing second and Paul Tracy (Forsythe Championship Racing) finishing third. The weather was partly cloudy, with temperatures reaching up to 24 °C (75 °F).
