2002–03 FC Dinamo București season
The 2002–03 season was FC Dinamo București’s 54th in Romania’s top division. After winning the title, the club faced big player losses and had to rebuild again. Dinamo were knocked out early in Europe, losing in the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round to Club Brugge and ending their European campaign quickly.
In the league (Liga I), Dinamo struggled and finished 6th. The club also went through several managers during the season: Cornel Dinu started, with Ion Moldovan coaching rounds 1–3, Florin Marin rounds 4–7, and Dinu again from rounds 8–18; Ioan Andone later took charge for the cup run.
A bright moment came in November in the Romanian Cup, where Dinamo beat their biggest rivals Steaua 3–0 at Cotroceni in the last 16. After Andone joined, Dinamo had a dramatic semifinal against Astra Ploiești: they lost the first leg 2–1 away, then won the second leg 3–1 after extra time in Bucharest to advance. Dinamo went on to win the Romanian Cup, defeating FC Național 1–0 in the final thanks to Iulian Tameș.
Ionel Dănciulescu was the season’s top scorer with 16 goals. The club brought in several new players, including signings from Craiova, as part of a broad squad reshuffle.
