The 1st Separate Women's Volunteer Rifle Brigade was a stand-alone unit of the Soviet military formed in 1942 by a State Defense Committee order (GFCS-2470SS). It began in the Red Army, but in 1943 it was transferred to the NKVD after the arrest of its deputy commander, Major Vera Krylova. The brigade was disbanded in 1944.
