1993 Philadelphia Eagles season

The 1993 Philadelphia Eagles season was the team’s 61st in the NFL. They finished 8–8, placed 3rd in the NFC East, and did not make the playoffs. They couldn’t match their 11–5 record from 1992, and ten of their sixteen games were decided by a touchdown or less.

The season was marked by big changes and injuries. Reggie White left the Eagles to join the Green Bay Packers in free agency, and the team was without him in their games at Lambeau Field where Philadelphia even beat White in his first Packers appearance there. The downturn deepened when quarterback Randall Cunningham (broken leg) and wide receiver Fred Barnett (ACL tear) suffered season-ending injuries in a 35–30 win over the Jets on October 3. After starting 4–0, the Eagles then lost six straight before finishing with three straight wins, including their first road win in San Francisco in 10 years. Bubby Brister took over at quarterback after Cunningham’s injury.

Training camp was held at West Chester University of Pennsylvania for the 14th consecutive year. In the 1993 NFL draft, eight rounds were held; the Eagles had picks 19 and 24 and selected Lester Holmes (OT, Jackson State) and Leonard Renfro (DT, Colorado).
