The 1954 Stanley Cup Final matched the Detroit Red Wings against the Montreal Canadiens for the fourth straight time in the 1950s. Detroit, coached by Tommy Ivan and captained by Ted Lindsay, faced Montreal, coached by Dick Irvin and captained by Emile Bouchard. Montreal had reached the Final by sweeping the Boston Bruins, while Detroit had defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The series went seven games. Detroit rallied from a 3-1 deficit to win the Cup in Game 7, 2-1 in overtime. Tony Leswick scored the series-winning goal at 4:29 of OT, with the puck deflecting off Montreal’s Doug Harvey into the net. The decisive goal secured Detroit’s second Cup in four years and its sixth overall. The game was played in Detroit at Olympia Stadium (Games 1, 2, 5, and 7), with Games 3, 4, and 6 held at the Montreal Forum.

After the win, Red Wings captain Ted Lindsay received the Stanley Cup from NHL President Clarence Campbell. This series is notable for featuring several Hockey Hall of Fame players and for being the last Stanley Cup Final to be decided in overtime in Game 7 (as of 2024).
