You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet (film)
You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet! is a 2012 French-German film directed by Alain Resnais. It is loosely based on two Jean Anouilh plays, Eurydice and Cher Antoine ou l'Amour raté.
Plot in simple terms: A famous playwright named Antoine d’Anthac has died, but his friends from the theatre world gather to watch a recording of Eurydice, performed by a young acting company. The memories of the actors and the magic of the play make them start acting the parts again, even though they are now too old for the roles.
The movie features a cast that includes Mathieu Amalric, Pierre Arditi, Sabine Azéma, Anne Consigny, and Lambert Wilson. It was produced by Jean-Louis Livi for the company F Comme Film, with a budget of about 8 million euros. The project also received support from the German company Alamode Film and the TV channel France 2, among others. Much of the filming took place at Saint-Ouen Studios, and the score was composed by Mark Snow.
Laurent Herbiet co-wrote the screenplay with Resnais, drawing on Eurydice and Cher Antoine ou l’Amour raté to shape the film’s theatrical mood. For the inside performance of the play, Bruno Podalydès directed a separate cast and crew, allowing a distinct style from Resnais’s own approach.
You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet. premiered in competition at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival on May 21 and was released in France on September 26, 2012, with a US release in June 2013. The movie runs 115 minutes and is in French.
