William Powlett Powlett (18 March 1758 – 8 March 1821) was an English landowner who lived at Lainston House in Hampshire. He served as High Sheriff of Hampshire in 1783 and was a Whig Member of Parliament for Totnes from 1790 to 1796.

He was born William Powlett Smyth, the only son of the Reverend Richard Smyth, rector of Myddle, and his wife Annabella. He changed his surname to Powlett when he inherited the Marrick estate from his maternal grandfather, also named William Powlett.

Powlett married, but had no children. After his death, his nephews Charles and Henry adopted the Powlett surname to inherit his estate and carry on the family name.
