William M. Farmer

William Maurice Farmer (June 5, 1853 – August 28, 1931) was an American judge and politician from Illinois. Born in Fayette County, Illinois, he studied at McKendree University and earned a law degree from Northwestern University School of Law in 1876. He practiced law in Vandalia, served as Fayette County’s state's attorney, and was a Democrat.

Farmer served in the Illinois House of Representatives from 1888 to 1890 and in the Illinois State Senate from 1890 to 1894. He became a circuit court judge in 1897 and later served on the Illinois Appellate Court. He was a justice of the Illinois Supreme Court from 1906 until his retirement in May 1931.

He died at his home in Vandalia on August 28, 1931, after a stroke.
