Villa Foscarini Rossi a Stra
Villa Foscarini Rossi is a Baroque aristocratic rural palace in Stra, Veneto, Italy, at Via Doge Pisani 1/2 along the Riviera del Brenta. It now houses the Museo Rossimoda della Calzatura, a shoe museum. Construction began in 1602, ordered by Venetian admiral Jacopo Foscarini. An additional block called the Foresteria was later added to accommodate visiting guests. The main salon features frescoes painted in 1652 by Domenico de’ Bruni and Pietro Liberi to celebrate the wedding of Giambattista Foscarini and Chiara Soranzo. After the fall of the Venetian Republic, the villa changed owners several times. In the 19th century, shoe maker Luigino Rossi refurbished it. The complex opened to visitors in 1995. The main building houses the shoe museum, while the Foresteria is used for cultural events and meetings.
