Mo Sabri is an American singer, songwriter, and filmmaker from Johnson City, Tennessee. He first gained attention on YouTube and is noted by The Washington Post for helping shape his own music style. He’s also known for his fashion, with features in Vogue and recognition as Best Dressed at the Grammy Awards. In 2013, he was invited to Washington, D.C. to have breakfast with President Barack Obama.

His debut album, The Overnight Classic, released in January 2012, was one of the top five highest-selling albums on the iTunes World chart in its first week. Sabri was born to Pakistani immigrants. In middle school he played double bass, then taught himself guitar and started making rap songs in high school. He studied pre-med at East Tennessee State University and became a full-time recording artist after graduating in 2013.

Sabri rose to local fame online with the song “Johnson City, Tennessee” in 2011 and soon began touring worldwide. His music videos have featured cameos from celebrities such as Jason Witten, Daniel Norris, Phil Roe, Aziz Ansari, and B.o.B. He headlined the Cardiff Mela festival in 2011. At the 59th Grammy Awards, he wore a sherwani on the red carpet and appeared on many best-dressed lists.

Musically, Sabri is often described as alternative hip hop, with lyrics about love, society, personal struggles, and faith, sometimes incorporating South Asian musical influences. He is currently recording his second album.
