The First Seven Days is a jazz fusion studio album by Jan Hammer, released June 30, 1975. It was recorded in 1975 at Red Gate Studio in Kent, New York. The album mainly uses synthesizers, including guitar-like synthesized sounds; the cover even states, "For those concerned: there is no guitar on this album." Other instruments include grand piano, electric violin, and percussion. The music is a modern retelling of the Genesis creation story. The liner notes explain that Hammer imagined each "day" of creation could last anywhere from one day to 100 million years, blending scientific and biblical ideas, which inspired seven new pieces of music. All tracks were written by Jan Hammer. On the LP, side 2 starts with track 5. It was released by Nemperor/Atlantic Records (catalog NE432) and produced by Jan Hammer.
