Takuya Hirai
Takuya Hirai is a Japanese politician with the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP). He has been a member of the House of Representatives since June 25, 2000. He has represented Kagawa’s 1st district (2000–2009, 2012–2021) and has been on the Shikoku proportional representation list (2009–2012; 2021–present). He was born January 25, 1958, in Takamatsu, Kagawa, and graduated from Sophia University. Before entering politics, he was the president of Nishinippon Broadcasting, a family-owned company. He first ran for office in 1996 as an independent and lost, then joined the New Frontier Party and won in 2000, later joining the LDP. On September 1, 2021, under Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga, Hirai briefly served as Digital Minister, overseeing the Digital Agency, until October 4, 2021. He is the grandson of Tarō Hirai and the son of Takushi Hirai.
