Selex RAT-31DL
Selex RAT-31DL is a long‑range, 3D ground‑based radar built by Leonardo (formerly Selex ES). RAT stands for Radar Avvistamento Terrestre, meaning ground surveillance radar. It operates in the L‑band as a solid‑state, active phased‑array system.
Performance and coverage:
- Detection range: about 470 km
- Instrumented range: about 500 km
- Effective range: over 500 km
- Azimuth: full 360°
- Elevation: 0 to 20°
- Altitude limit: up to about 30 km
Technology:
- 42 x 42 transmit/receive modules (24 boosted), ~2 kW per module
- Four independent beams sweep the sky at 6 rpm
- Elevation steered electronically
Mobility:
- The mobile RAT-31DL/M variant adds a foldable antenna and a shelter, housed in two 20‑foot ISO containers for rapid deployment in unprepared locations.
